Instructions on How to Apply for a California Engineers License
DO NOT FILE BEFORE YOU HAVE ACTUALLY ACQUIRED SUFFICIENT QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE!
Qualifying experience is computed on an actual time basis, not to exceed forty hours per week. If education is used as a part of the required qualifying experience, the additional actual work experience must be gained after graduation.
It is the applicant's responsibility to compile and submit a complete application package. A partial application packet will not be considered for evaluation and/or examination.
A complete application packet must contain the application, application fee, engagement record and reference forms, and a minimum of four references in the discipline applying for. Sealed college transcripts and/or verification form may be included as applicable. Foreign transcripts must be translated into English.
ALL MATERIAL MUST BE POSTMARKED OR RECEIVED IN THE BOARD OFFICE ON, OR PRIOR TO THE FINAL FILING DATE PUBLISHED BY THE BOARD.
It is to your advantage to file early to ensure your application is complete and that you will be considered for the examination of your choice. It is also in your best interest to make the application as complete and thorough as possible giving sufficient detail to allow thorough review and evaluation. This document must demonstrate that you are fully qualified to take the professional engineer examination.
