Candidates who are taking multi-part exams (such as the Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer exams) will not be allowed to take the remaining exam(s) and will have all of their exams voided if they are ejected from the exam.

  • OCTOBER 2008 EXAMINATION SITES
  • Click the link above for information regarding the sites to be used for the October 2008 examinations, including a Central Valley site in Visalia.
    NOTE: In October 2008, the Board will be administering the EIT examination at Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo. Due to limited seating at this site, only students at Cal Poly - SLO will be scheduled for this site. If you have already submitted your application for the October 2008 EIT examination and are a student at Cal Poly - SLO, you may submit a written request for this site via fax to (916) 263-2246 or via e-mail to BPELS_EIT_LSIT@dca.ca.gov. This site is only for EIT candidates enrolled at Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo.
  • UPDATED INFORMATION FOR THE OCTOBER 2008 CALIFORNIA STRUCTURAL ENGINEER SEISMIC EXAMINATION
  • The California Structural Seismic Engineer examination Test Plan, Reference List, Information for Candidates Handbook, and the Examination Sample Problems have been updated for the October 2008 examination.
    NOTE: The October 2008 California Structural Engineer Seismic Examination was developed using the 2007 California Building Code (CBC), which is based on the 2006 International Building Code (IBC). For the October 2008 examination, all concrete and steel problems will require the LRFD (strength design) method. All wood problems will require the ASD method. The masonry problems will designate whether the ASD or LRFD (strength design) method will be required. No credit will be given if the problems are solved using the incorrect method. If the ASD method is required, no credit will be given if the problems are solved using the LRFD method. If the LRFD method is required, no credit will be given if the problems are solved using the ASD method.
  • UPDATED INFORMATION FOR THE OCTOBER 2008 GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER EXAMINATION
  • The Geotechnical Engineer examination Reference List and Information for Candidates Handbook have been updated for the October 2008 examination.
    NOTE: Beginning with the October 2008 examination, the 2007 CBC, which is based on the 2006 International Building Code (IBC), will be used.
  • NEW SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER EXAMINATION
  • NCEES has announced that, effective with the October 2008 exam administration, the Mechanical PE exam will be under revised specifications. Additionally, the afternoon depth module formerly call Mechanical - Machine Design has been renamed Mechanical - Mechanical Systems and Materials.   • NEW SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE METALLURGICAL ENGINEER EXAMINATION
  • NCEES has announced that, effective with the October 2008 exam administration, the Metallurgical PE exam will be under revised specifications. Additionally, the title of the exam has changed to Metallurgical and Materials, and the exam has been expanded to include materials other than metals.   • TRAFFIC ENGINEER EXAMINATION REFERENCE LIST UPDATED

  • UPDATED REFERENCE LIST FOR THE SPECIAL CIVIL (SEISMIC PRINCIPLES AND ENGINEERING SURVEYING) EXAMINATIONS
  • The Reference List for the Special Civil (Seismic Principles and Engineering Surveying) examinations has been updated for the 2008 examinations. Click the link above for the updated Reference List.
  • CALIFORNIA SPECIAL CIVIL SEISMIC PRINCIPLES EXAMINATION TEST PLAN UPDATED
  • Click the link above for the updated/revised test plan for the California Special Civil Seismic Principles examination. The updated test plan has been revised to reflect the change to the 2007 California Building Code, which is based on the 2006 International Building Code. The updated test plan will be used beginning with the April 2008 examination.
  • SUPPLIED REFERENCE HANDBOOK - FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING (ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING/EIT) EXAMINATION
  • NCEES has announced that the 8th edition of the FE Supplied-Reference Handbook will be used beginning with the April 2008 exam administration. The 8th edition of the Handbook is available on the NCEES web site. Click the link above for the NCEES web site.
  • NEW SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL 8-HOUR CIVIL ENGINEER EXAMINATION
  • NCEES has announced that, effective with the April 2008 exam administration, new specifications for the National 8-hour Civil PE exam will be used. A new afternoon depth module, Civil-Construction, has been added. The current Civil-Water Resources and Civil-Environmental modules have been combined into one module, Civil-Water Resources and Environmental. The specifications are available on the NCEES web site.   • REVISED DESIGN STANDARDS FOR THE NATIONAL 8-HOUR CIVIL AND NATIONAL STRUCTURAL II EXAMINATIONS
  • NCCES has announced that new Structural Design Standards will be effective with the April 2008 administration of the National 8-hour Civil exam (Civil-Structural afternoon depth module) and the National Structural II exam.   • NCCES has announced that new Civil-Transportation Design Standards will be effective with the April 2008 administration of the National 8-hour Civil exam (Civil-Transportation afternoon depth module).   • NCEES has announced that new editions of the NCEES Sample Questions & Solutions are available for the National Structural II exam and the National 8-hour Civil exam (all afternoon depth modules).   • 2007 CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE TO BE USED ON THE 2008 SPECIAL CIVIL SEISMIC PRINCIPLES, CALIFORNIA STRUCTURAL ENGINEER SEISMIC, AND GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER EXAMINATIONS
  • The 2008 Special Civil Seismic Principles Examination, California Structural Engineer Seismic Examination, and Geotechnical Engineer Examination will use the 2007 California Building Code (CBC), which is based on the 2006 International Building Code (IBC). Additional information will be posted on this web site when it becomes available.
  • PROCEDURES FOR REQUESTING SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS
  • The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) handles all requests for special accommodations. If you have a need for special testing due to religious beliefs (Religious Accommodations Request Form) or for reasons falling within the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (Special Accommodations Questionnaire), you must complete the appropriate form and mail it, along with the required documentation, to the address on the form. Do NOT send the form or the documentation to the Board; this will delay the processing of your request. All requests must be submitted to NCEES by the final filing date of the examination for which you are applying. NOTE: You must request special accommodations for each examination administration cycle, even if none of the information has changed since the last request.
