  • UPDATED JANUARY 25, 2010 - INFORMATION REGARDING THE RELEASE OF THE OCTOBER 2009 ENGINEERING AND LAND SURVEYING EXAMINATION RESULTS

The EIT, LSIT, and Traffic PE examination results were mailed on January 14, 2010. All of the PE (excluding the Traffic PE) and the National PLS examination results were mailed on January 21, 2010.

  • TRANSFER OF BOARD FOR GEOLOGISTS AND GEOPHYSICISTS' FUNCTIONS TO BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND LAND SURVEYORS
    Legislation enacted during the 4th Extraordinary Session of 2009 eliminated the Board for Geologists and Geophysicists and transferred all of the duties, powers, purposes, responsibilities, and jurisdiction to regulate the practices of geology and geophysics to the Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. The transfer of authority is effective October 23, 2009. The Geologist and Geophysicist Act (Business and Professions Code section 7800, et seq.) and the Rules and Regulations pertaining to the practices of geology and geophysics (Title 16, California Code of Regulations section 3000, et seq.) remain in effect. The practices of geology and geophysics are still regulated. Individuals must still obtain licensure and practice in accordance with the laws and professional standards relating to geology and geophysics. The only change is that the Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors will now be enforcing those laws. Updates will be made to this website during the transition, so check back often for additional information.
  • RULEMAKING PROPOSALS
    The Board is proposing to amend Board Rules 404, 424, 425, 427.10, 427.30, 438, and 460. Click the link above for more information regarding these proposals. The period for submission of written comments ended on July 23, 2009.
  • SPECIAL NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS FOR LICENSURE AS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS
    The Electrical Engineer examination format has changed. The examination consists of three separate examinations divided by subdiscipline. Each subdiscipline of the Electrical Engineer examination is independent of the other. The three subdisciplines are Electrical and Computer - Computer Examination; Electrical and Computer - Electrical and Electronics Examination; and Electrical and Computer - Power Examination. An applicant for licensure will need to pass only one of the three examinations, not all three. Applicants must specify on their applications which one of these subdiscipline exams they wish to take. New applicants may handwrite this information at the top of the first page of the application form; however, the remainder of the forms must be typed. Refile applicants must indicate on their refile application which subdiscipline exam they wish to take.
